THE UNDERBELLY

The Underbelly portrays the perspectives of two of the most visible archetypes of what has been referred to as the modern “gender war”. These characters have vastly different ideas about relationships, roles, love, attraction, marriage, and the like. Via the characters and their personal stories, we will explore the systems and culture that inform popular notions on desirability and value in our relationships - both with ourselves and with others. In a modern world where gender and the performance thereof have been raised for collective interrogation, these characters seek to empower their respective audiences with knowledge on how best to not get played out here. And while the two characters vehemently disagree with each other, we will soon find out that many of their ideologies stem from the same pain… and ultimately, the same desires. Note: The Underbelly will be a full length stage play in 2025.

Steph

Steph believes that men have finally found their voices in modern society after years of being silenced by ‘feminist dogma’ and concerted attacks on masculinity. He seeks to empower men by informing them about ‘‘women’s nature’ and how to avoid being manipulated and/or taken advantage of by modern women.

Genevive

Genevive has closely observed the red pill and ‘men’s rights’ dialogue and has something to say in response to men’s critique of modern women. She believes women have been ‘fooled by fairytales’ into loving inadequate men when they really need to be seeking men with sufficient resources. While she advocates for the ‘best practical lifestyle outcomes’ for women (i.e. “soft life”), she also feels that modern feminism has duped women into accepting 50/50 and, generally, a bad deal.
